Kate joined the Penn State Nittany Lion Athletic staff in November 2016. She is the first ever athletic trainer at the Penn State University – Schuylkill Campus. Working with those in the Athletic Department, she was able to build a fully functional, collegiate-level Sports Medicine Department capable of providing top-tier services to all Penn State Schuylkill student-athletes.
 
Kate graduated with a double Bachelors of Psychology and Exercise and Sports Science from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC in 2013.  She earned her Masters in Athletic Training from Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, MA in 2015. During her education career she worked in settings to include: high schools, physical therapy clinicals, Boston College Eagles football team, Bridgewater State University football and softball teams, and the track and field Masters held at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston, MA.

Prior to joining the Nittany Lions, she served as the Head Athletic Trainer for Lewiston High School in Lewiston, ME, as well as a Certified Athletic Trainer in an orthopedic rehabilitation and physical therapy clinic in Auburn, ME.  She developed and led a six-week strength and conditioning program for the Boys and Girls Ice Hockey team, which turned into two State Championships for the boys team and two District Championships for the girls team the following seasons. This program was then expanded to include all student-athletes.

In addition to her sports medicine career, Kate actively serves in the United States Army Reserve for the past six years with one deployment. As an Officer of the Military Police Corps, she is currently an OC/T (Observer, Coach, Trainer) out of Fort Dix, NJ.

Kate is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.  She is also a nationally registered EMT and certified in IASTM (HGP-I and HGP-II).

Originally, from Roxbury, Kate currently resides in Pine Grove, Pennsylvania.
