Schuylkill advances with 5-2 win over Maine Presque Isle.

DuBois, PA

After a tough loss in their opening game of the tournamnent, Penn State Schuylkill was able to avoid elimination with a 5-2 win over the University of Maine-Presque Isle. Schuylkill opened up the scoring in the bottom of the first on rbi triple by Danielle Lilly, who would later score on a passed ball to gize Schuylkill a 2-0 lead. UMPI would answer back and tie the game at 2-2 on a pair of Schuylkill defensive miscues. Schuylkill would retake the lead on a single by Chase Stokes driving in Hayley Wolff in the bottom of the 2nd, moments before an hour and twenty minute weather delay. When they returned to action Schuylkill would continue to tack on runs with an rbi groundout from Marcella Scheeler in the 3rd and an rbi double by Makenna Rushannon in the 4th. The 5-2 advantage would be more than enough as pitching Hannah Sell would retire the final 10 UMPI batters to seal the win.
