WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Owen Zimmerman (Shoemakersville, PA / Hamburg Area High School) notched his 100th career hit in Penn State Schuylkill's doubleheader sweep against Penn State Wilkes-Barre.
Zimmerman went 3-4 at bat in the first matchup. Also finishing 3-4 at bat with an RBI was Ethan Naftzinger (Hamburg, PA / Hamburg Area High School). Connor Licklider (Hamburg, PA / Hamburg Area High School) went 2-3 with a team-high two RBIs. Brenan Adams (Pottsville, PA / Pottsville Area High School) won his pitching matchup, pitching in 5.0 innings and allowing only five hits.
In the second matchup, Schuylkill started out hot, recording eight runs in the first inning. Schuylkill remained in the driver's seat for the remainder of the contest. Licklider went 3-5 at bat with two RBIs. Adams finished 2-3 at bat with two doubles and two RBIs. Also hitting two doubles was Owen Shoop (Tower City, PA / Williams Valley High School). Zimmerman added two RBIs in the win. Licklider pitched in 5.0 innings, striking out six.
Schuylkill (26-10 overall, 14-4 PSUAC) will look to extend their winning streak to eleven games as they host Penn State Wilkes-Barre on senior day.
