Baseball Falls in PSUAC Tournament

DUBOIS, Pa. - Penn State Schuylkill Baseball dropped two games in the semifinal round of the PSUAC Tournament.

Two doubles in the top of the third inning drove in two runs for Penn State Dubois. In the bottom of the fifth inning, trailing by two, Owen Shoop (Tower City, PA / Williams Valley High School) walked for Schuylkill and advanced to second base as RayJay Marmolejos (Wyomissing, PA / Wilson High School) singled. With Ryan Jarboe (Pottsville, PA / Blue Mountain High School) pinch running for Shoop, Conner Licklider (Hamburg, PA / Hamburg Area High School) and Owen Zimmerman (Shoemakersville, PA / Hamburg Area High School) hit consecutive singles to bring both runners home and even the score at 2-2. A single and an error led to Dubois runs in the sixth and seventh innings, respectively.

Zimmerman went 3-4 at bat with an RBI, while Nate Gilbert (Shoemakersville, PA / Hamburg Area High School) connected for a double.

Penn State Mont Alto 5, Penn State Schuylkill 0

After five scoreless innings to begin the contest, a home run on the opening play in the top of the sixth inning for Mont Alto started what would be a six-hit, five-run inning. Neither team managed to score during the seventh or eighth innings as Mont Alto went on to defeat Schuylkill.

Shoop, Marmolejos, and Chris Duffy (Perkasie, PA / Lansdale Catholic High School) all hit singles for Schuylkill.
