Schuylkill Sweeps York in Saturday PSUAC Doubleheader

Penn State Schuylkill Baseball picked up a crucial conference sweep Saturday afternoon, taking both ends of a PSUAC doubleheader against Penn State York at Blue Mountain High School. With a walk-off win in Game 1 and a dominant offensive display in Game 2, the Nittany Lions improved their conference record and showcased their depth on both sides of the ball.

Game 1: Schuylkill 5, York 4
The opener was a dramatic back-and-forth affair, with Schuylkill clinching the win in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the seventh. After Penn State York rallied for three runs in the top half to take a 4-3 lead, Owen Zimmerman came up big once again, driving in the tying run with a double and later scoring the game-winner on Brandon Pupek's fielder's choice.

Zimmerman led the way offensively, finishing 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, two RBIs, and three runs scored. Roman Cieless added a triple and an RBI, while Brenan Adams and Pupek also chipped in RBIs.

Tristan Baer went the distance on the mound, tossing a complete game while scattering six hits and allowing just two earned runs.

Game 2: Schuylkill 12, York 2 (6 Inn.)
The nightcap was all Schuylkill from the first pitch. The Lions struck early and often, plating four runs in the first inning and never looking back. They racked up 13 hits as a team, with RayJay Marmolejos leading the charge with a 2-for-5 day, including a bases-clearing walk off double that capped off a three-run sixth inning.

Conner Licklider stayed hot at the plate with three hits and two runs, and Cieless, Adams, Dan Zimmerman, and Pupek each recorded multi-hit games. Dan Zimmerman also tallied two RBIs, continuing his clutch production behind the plate.

On the mound, Brenan Adams was efficient and effective, going 5.2 innings while giving up just two runs (one earned) and striking out three. Aidan Barner closed the door with a strong relief appearance.
