Penn State Schuylkill Rallies Past Central Maine CC at USCAA Nationals

The Penn State Schuylkill baseball team showcased resilience and firepower in a 13-8 comeback victory over Central Maine CC to open their run at the USCAA Nationals. The win advances Schuylkill to a pivotal game against PSU Mont Alto at 10 AM today, with the chance to continue their journey at 7 PM with a victory.

Game Highlights:

  • Offensive Explosion: Schuylkill's bats came alive with 11 hits and 10 RBIs, led by standout performances:

  • Big Fifth Inning Surge: Down 8-4 in the fifth, Schuylkill rallied with six runs, including Zimmerman's 2-RBI double and Cieless's 2-RBI double to take a commanding lead.

  • Strong Relief Work: Michael Kohler came in to steady the ship, pitching 3.2 innings with 5 strikeouts, allowing just 2 runs to secure the win.

Scoring Summary:

  • 1st Inning: Conner Licklider stole home on a double steal to open the scoring (1-0).

  • 3rd Inning: Brenan Adams and Brandon Pupek each drove in runs, extending the lead to 4-1.

  • 4th Inning: Central Maine battled back with a 7-run inning to take the lead (8-4).

  • 5th Inning: Schuylkill responded with a monster 6-run inning, highlighted by Pupek's home run, Zimmerman's 2-RBI double, and Cieless's 2-RBI double (11-8).
