Schuylkill Battles in Home Opener Against Brandywine

In a thrilling home opener for the 2024-2025 season, the Penn State Schuylkill men's basketball team took on Penn State Brandywine but fell short, with a final score of 80-69.

Key Performers for Schuylkill:

  • Issac Lane led the team with 17 points, adding 8 rebounds and 2 steals.
  • Antwuan Byrd contributed 14 points and 6 assists while shooting 46% from the field.
  • Makhi Jones added 10 points and 4 rebounds, showcasing his versatility.
  • Dashawn Dixon was a force in the paint, recording 7 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks.

Schuylkill showed resilience throughout the game, particularly on the boards, out-rebounding Brandywine 34-30. However, their struggles from beyond the arc (2-for-22) and the free-throw line (13-for-25) proved costly.

Brandywine was led by an impressive performance from Amari Little, who poured in a game-high 30 points on 10-of-11 shooting, including 4-of-5 from three-point range. Brandywine's efficient shooting (51% from the field) and 80% free-throw accuracy helped them secure the win.

Despite the loss, the Lions displayed promise and determination as they gear up for their next matchup on November 9 against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
