Schuylkill Fights Hard Against Division I Opponent on UMD Eastern Shore's Homecoming

Penn State Schuylkill traveled to Princess Anne, Maryland, to face Division I University of Maryland Eastern Shore on their homecoming, putting up a valiant effort but ultimately falling 96-77.

  • Makhi Jones was the standout, scoring a team-high 21 points on an efficient 7-of-10 shooting, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.
  • Issac Lane contributed 19 points and 5 rebounds, consistently attacking the rim and drawing fouls.
  • Dashawn Dixon was a presence in the paint with 7 points and a team-high 8 rebounds.
  • Amir Gray provided a spark off the bench, scoring 9 points and grabbing 3 rebounds in just 9 minutes.

Midway through the second half, Schuylkill made a spirited run, cutting the deficit to just 7 points with a strong sequence led by Makhi Jones and Issac Lane. However, UMD Eastern Shore responded quickly with a decisive 10-2 run to regain control of the game.

Schuylkill shot 46.2% from the field and a solid 74.2% from the free-throw line but struggled to contain UMD Eastern Shore's high-powered offense, which shot 58.5%.

The Hawks were led by Ketron Shaw, who poured in a game-high 25 points, shooting 75% from the floor. Christopher Flippin added 21 points and 7 rebounds, while Jose Cuello chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. 

Despite the loss, Schuylkill showed grit and determination against a tough DI opponent. The Lions return to action on November 12 when they travel to Division II Mansfield for a doubleheader with the women's team.
