MANSFIELD, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill men's basketball secured a thrilling 87-85 overtime victory over Division II Mansfield University on Tuesday night at Decker Gymnasium. Senior guard Dashawn Dixon etched his name in program history, surpassing the 1,000-point milestone during a crucial second-half run that propelled the Lions to their first win of the season.
The game was a back-and-forth battle featuring 11 lead changes and two ties. Mansfield held a slim 47-40 lead at halftime, fueled by efficient shooting from LJ Stansbury and Nasir Brown, who combined for 36 points. However, Schuylkill roared back in the second half behind Makhi Jones, who led all scorers with 30 points, hitting eight three-pointers.
Dixon's milestone came midway through the second half, sparking a Lions' rally that forced overtime. Issac Lane was dominant in the paint, recording a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. The Lions outscored Mansfield 8-6 in the overtime period, with Dixon and Lane each contributing key baskets to seal the victory.
