Men’s Basketball Battles Tough in PSUAC Opener Against Scranton

Penn State Schuylkill opened their PSUAC conference season with a tough 90-73 loss to Penn State Scranton. Despite their best efforts, the Lions struggled to contain Scranton's hot shooting and efficient offense.

Key Performances:

  • Makhi Jones led the way for Schuylkill with 12 points and 6 rebounds, showing consistency on both ends of the floor.
  • Devin Adams provided a spark off the bench, contributing 12 points, including a perfect 4-4 from the free-throw line.
  • Dashawn Dixon was nearly perfect from the field, scoring 10 points on 5-6 shooting, while pulling down 7 rebounds.
  • Antwuan Byrd and Andrew Sepp each chipped in 10 points, with Byrd adding 3 assists and Sepp hitting two key three-pointers.

Game Highlights:
- The Lions kept the game close in the first half, trailing by just 7 points midway through, thanks to some timely shooting and second-chance opportunities.
- However, Scranton's Zay Fowlks exploded for 32 points, shooting an impressive 6-8 from beyond the arc, which proved too much for Schuylkill to overcome.
- Schuylkill showed resilience, cutting into the deficit multiple times, but Scranton's efficient ball movement and shooting (50% from three) allowed them to maintain their lead.

Schuylkill will look to regroup as they head west this weekend for back-to-back PSUAC matchups against PSU Greater Allegheny on Friday and PSU Shenango on Saturday. The team will aim to bounce back and secure their first conference win of the season.
