BRYN ATHYN, PA – The Penn State Schuylkill Men's Soccer team put up a valiant effort on the road but could not overcome Bryn Athyn, falling 2-0 on Saturday.
Despite the tough result, goalkeeper Bryce Hensley (Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania / Blue Mountain) delivered a standout performance for the Nittany Lions, making 13 crucial saves to keep his team within striking distance. Hensley's efforts were instrumental in holding Bryn Athyn to just two goals, as the home side consistently pressured the Schuylkill defense.
Offensively, the Nittany Lions found it challenging to break through Bryn Athyn's defense. Zack Wilcox (Covington, Pennsylvania / North-Penn Mansfield) registered the lone shot for Penn State Schuylkill, but the team was unable to capitalize on limited opportunities.
Bryn Athyn opened the scoring late in the first half, with a goal from Justin Lykunov in the 40th minute. Nathan Scavo added a second goal for the home team in the 71st minute, assisted by Luis Ayala.
Penn State Schuylkill remains focused on improving and building on the positives from this match as they prepare for their next contest on September 4th at home versus the University of Valley Forge.
