Track & Field Recap: Lions Open Spring Season with Strong Effort and Top Finishes

Penn State Schuylkill Track & Field kicked off its spring season with a strong showing across both men's and women's events, highlighted by several top-five finishes and impressive debuts from new faces. The team competed with energy and determination, showing signs of growth and promise as they aim to build momentum this spring.

On the men's side, Zack Wilcox led the way with a 6th-place finish in the 800m (2:07.00), while Jonah Zias impressed in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing 4th in 15:25.72. Tyrone Chambers had a standout day in the field, placing 4th in the high jump (1.85m) and 11th in long jump (5.59m). Kyle Kaminski threw 9.93m in the shot put to finish 15th.

The women were led by Malak Mowafi, who placed 2nd in the 3000m steeplechase (15:32.16), and Megan Hauser, who earned three top-15 finishes in shot put (10.17m, 14th), discus (27.71m, 15th), and javelin (25.48m, 11th). Nadia King finished 11th in the 400m hurdles (1:26.66) and 16th in the 100m dash (14.19).

Both teams placed 14th overall, with the men tallying 12.5 points and the women adding 8 points. With a talented and energized roster, the Lions are looking forward to seeing new personal records and continued improvement in meets to come.
