Meet Recap:
Penn State Schuylkill Track & Field made a strong statement at the West Chester University Invitational this past weekend, highlighted by several standout performances across both track and field events. The men's team finished 6th overall with 49 team points, while the women placed 14th with 3 points in a highly competitive field.
A major highlight of the meet came from Ashton Owens, who shattered the program record in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:17.47, finishing 3rd overall. His performance marked a personal best and added key points to the team's total.
Tyrone Chambers claimed victory in the high jump, clearing 1.75m to secure 1st place and maintain his dominance in the field events. Chambers also teamed up with Owens, Lee Newton, and Zack Wilcox in the 4x400m relay, where the squad posted a winning time of 3:39.02 to take 1st place.
On the track, Zack Wilcox continued his exceptional season by winning the 800m in 1:57.69, leading the field from start to finish.
The throwers were led by Megan Hauser, who finished 8th in both the shot put (10.20m) and discus (29.66m), and 12th in javelin (22.53m), showing strong consistency across all three disciplines.
In distance events, Matthew O placed 5th in the 5000m with a time of 17:29.02, while Evelyn Louca earned a 9th place finish in the 400m hurdles at 1:38.62. Additional personal bests were earned across the board in the 1500m and shot put events as the Lions continue to progress.
