Women's Soccer Tops Central Penn

SUMMERDALE, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill defeated USCAA opponent Central Penn College 2-1 on Friday.

Schuylkill secured an early 2-0 lead with goals from Zoe Gannon (Leesport, PA / Schuylkill Valley) at 19:24 and Grace Fenstermacher (Schuylkill Haven, PA / Nativity BVM) at 29:49. Schuylkill held a slight edge on the shot matchup during the period with an 11-9 advantage. Victoria Grimm (Jonestown, PA / Northern Lebanon Area) made 5 saves for Schuylkill in the period, 9 total for the contest.

Central Penn swiftly responded in the second period, scoring 2:25 into action. Schuylkill effectively limited Central Penn's scoring opportunities while winning the shot matchup once again, 13-8. After nearly 15 minutes without a Central Penn shot, they had one last chance at the goal at the 85:57 mark, but Grimm's save sealed the victory for Schuylkill.

Schuylkill (8-7 overall, 6-3 PSUAC) will play in their final home game of the regular season on Saturday, October 21st as they host PSUAC opponent Penn State Hazleton.
