Women's Soccer Defeats Penn State Hazleton, Clinches #3 Seed

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill Women's Soccer clinched the #3 seed of the PSUAC playoffs following their 9-1 win over Penn State Hazleton.

Schuykill dominated the shot matchup throughout the matchup, winning 57 to 5. Following 6 early shots by Schuylkill, Nancy Le (Harrisburg, PA / Central Dauphin East) connected with Jesenia Landaverde (Easton, PA / Easton Area) to give Schuylkill their first goal of the contest. 6 different players found the back of the net for Schuylkill throughout the matchup.

Following a Hazleton goal at the 54:49 mark, Nia Bronson (Pine Grove, PA / Pine Grove) quickly responded at the 57:30 mark with a shot 20 yards out that found the back of the net, extending Schuylkill's lead to 4-1. Schuylkill scored 6 of their 9 goals during the second period.

Bronson, Grace Fenstermacher (Schuylkill Haven, PA / Nativity BVM) and Zoe Gannon (Leesport, PA / Schuylkill Valley) all scored 2 goals a piece in the victory. Gannon finished with 3 assists while Fenstermacher added 2.

Schuylkill (9-7 overall, 6-3 PSUAC) will travel to Penn State Mont Alto in what will be their final regular season matchup on Thursday, October 26th. Start time for that matchup is 3:30 p.m.
