Women's Track Competes at Ursinus College

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Women's Track and Field had a good showing in the Ursinus College Track & Field Festival this past weekend.

The USCAA Thrower of the Week a week ago, Megan Hauser (Lehighton, PA / Lehighton Area High School), completed the women's shot-put event at 9.24 meters, placing her 7th overall in a pool of 25. Hauser also made an appearance in the women's discus throw, placing 8th overall out of 25 at 26.65 meters.

JiaYi Gong (Ashland, PA / North Schuylkill High School) and Malak Mowafi (Iselin, NJ / John F Kennedy High School) made new national marks in the 3000-meter steeplechase event. Gong finished the event in 6th place at 15:24.61 while Mowafi placed 7th overall at 15:41.58. Gong and Mowafi's times currently rank 75th and 76th respectively in the NAIA national rankings.

Mowafi and Gong also made an appearance in the 1500-meter event. Mowafi was the first to cross the finish line for Schuylkill as her time of 6:31.93 placed her 25th for the event. Gong placed 27th at 6:35.10. Rounding out the top 30 was Farangiz Kholmatova who finished at 7:02.72. Right outside of the top 30 was Evelyn Louca (Westfield, PA / Cowanesque Valley High School) who placed 31st overall with a time of 7:17.62.

Additional Notes:

Farangiz Kholmatova placed 37th overall in the 800-meter event with a time of 3:28.87.

Mowafi and Louca competed in the 400-meter hurdles event, finishing 8th and 9th respectively at 1:32.93 and 1:33.79.

Gong placed 35th in the 400-meter event at 1:22.38.
