Track & Field Posts Strong Showing at Jim Taylor Invitational

The Nittany Lions took to the track at Susquehanna University for the Jim Taylor Duals, with several athletes posting strong performances across sprints, distance, throws — and jumps.


Recap:

Penn State Schuylkill Track & Field was in action at the Jim Taylor Duals hosted by Susquehanna University on March 28–29. Competing against a deep field of teams from across the region, several Nittany Lions recorded season-best marks and gained valuable meet experience.

Sprints & Distance

  • Jeslyn Ntori competed in both the 100m and 200m, placing 36th (14.81) and 48th (31.61), respectively.

  • Evelyne Larose placed 43rd in the 200m (30.37).

  • Jessica Cecil ran the 1500m, finishing in 8:05.99.

  • In the 5000m, Bolu Akinrinade (31:46.93) and Hanna Bulles (35:38.78) finished 11th and 12th.

  • Evelyn Louca ran 1:46.56 for 13th in the 400m Hurdles.

  • Zack Wilcox cracked the top 10 in the Men's 800m, finishing 7th with a time of 1:59.08.

  • Bryce Hensley placed 45th in the 1500m at 4:57.56.

  • Isaac Akitoye (11.97) and Tyrone Chambers (26.01) both competed in the sprints, while Ashton Owens doubled in the 200m (24.62) and 400m (55.59).

Jumps

  • Tyrone Chambers delivered Schuylkill's top finish of the meet, placing 3rd in the high jump with a clearance of 1.89m — just shy of the AARTFC qualifying mark.

  • Chambers also competed in the long jump, finishing 19th with a leap of 6.02m.

  • Isaac Akitoye added a mark of 4.83m in the long jump, placing 33rd.

Throws

  • Evelyn Louca placed 36th in the shot put (5.26m).

  • Megan Hauser had a strong showing:

    • 18th in shot put (9.47m)

    • 19th in discus (29.66m)

    • 18th in javelin (27.39m)

  • Kory Gilbert placed 40th in discus (18.20m) and 33rd in shot put (7.50m).

  • Jonah Zias finished just behind him in shot, taking 34th (7.39m).

Distance – Men's 10,000m

  • Aramis Rosario Gonzalez rounded out the weekend with an 11th-place finish in the 10,000m, crossing the line in 43:43.23.

The Lions will return to action soon, building off this competitive showing as the outdoor season heats up.
