Katie Malone is heading into her 17th year coaching women’s volleyball at Penn State Schuylkill, 19th overall. Malone took over as head coach at Penn State Schuylkill in 2018. In Malone’s first year as head coach at Penn State Schuylkill, she guided the women’s volleyball program to their first PSUAC East Division Conference title in 11 years.
Prior to arriving at Schuylkill, Malone held assistant coaching positions at Blue Mountain High School and North Schuylkill High School. Malone became the head volleyball coach at North Schuylkill in 2014.
Malone attended Blue Mountain High School and played both volleyball and softball for all four years. Malone continued her education and sports career at Penn State Schuylkill and graduated with an associate’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies. Malone received her bachelor’s in Psychology and Certificate in Occupational Therapy Assistant from Penn State Berks.
Malone continues to play competitive softball and volleyball while training players from both sports in a private setting.
Outside of coaching, Malone enjoys spending time with her partner, family, and friends. Malone also has a strong passion for the outdoors, having hobbies such as hiking, biking, kayaking, paddleboarding, and playing pickleball.

I WANT THEM TO SUCCEED ON THE COURT AND IN THE CLASSROOM AND I WANT THEM TO BE THE BEST FEMALE ROLE MODELS FOR THE ALL THE YOUNG GIRLS IN THEIR COMMUNITY WHERE THEY GO TO SCHOOL AND PLAY, LIVE AND WORK! MOST OF ALL, I WANT THEM TO HAVE RESPECT FOR COACHES AND THEMSELVES!”
