Meghan Stokes: NAIA CAC and PSUAC Hitter of the Week

Meghan Stokes, a third-year softball player from Winchester, Virginia earns the NAIA Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Hitter of the Week award as well as the PSUAC Softball Hitter of the Week award. Stokes plays second base and center field for the Lady Lions. Currently, Stokes has a batting average of .645 and 15 RBIs for this season.

Here is what Stokes has to say about this season.

Playing competitive teams during your trip to Myrtle Beach, SC, how did that start your season?
Stokes: At first it was definitely challenging because we were unable to practice outside due to the weather prior to Myrtle Beach. The first two games we played were definitely the best teams we have faced so far. Overall, Myrtle Beach gives the team an opportunity to truly get to know each other. After seeing how we played in Myrtle I am truly excited to see how the team does this season.

What challenges come with being first in the batting lineup?
Stokes: The first batter is supposed to get as many pitches as possible and work the pitcher. When the first batter does this they are then able to explain to the team what the pitcher throws, and how well she can move the ball. I've never been that kind of hitter. When I see a pitch that is a strike I am going to hit the ball.

What are you looking forward to this season?
Stokes: I am extremely looking forward to seeing how well we do this season. The group of girls that we have now is by far the most dedicated and hard-working group I have seen while attending Penn State Schuylkill. We all push each other to be the best versions of ourselves.

How were you able to have these achievements?
Stokes: I would like to thank my teammates and coaches for pushing me every day.
