Sierra Santarsiero, Softball Pitcher of the Week

Sierra Santarsiero, a fourth-year from Moosic, PA starts her senior season off strong with receiving the PSUAC Softball Pitcher of the Week Award. Santarsiero has been a member of the Lady Lions Softball team all four years, having numerous achievements both on and off the field. We look forward to Santarsiero's final season with us as she strives towards her goals.

How has the start of your season been?
Santarsiero: The team has put in countless hours of work during preseason, including team lifts and early morning conditioning sessions. Our hard work has been showcased on the field thus far and we are excited to showcase our talents in our upcoming PSUAC conference season.

With this being your last season, what are you looking forward to?
Santarsiero: I am most looking forward to creating bonds that will last for a lifetime with my teammates and coaches. Penn State Schuylkill's athletic department is something special with so many people who have impacted my life - like Kayla Felty, Evan Bernhardy, and coach Darle Cresswell. This team has so much promising potential and I am so excited to see where this season takes us.

What are your personal goals for the season?
Santarsiero: I currently stand with 250 career strikeouts, only 33 away from breaking the all-time record. I look forward to breaking this soon and setting some records of my own.

How were you able to have these achievements?
Santarsiero: Without my parents, I would not be here. They have made endless sacrifices to help me reach my ultimate goal of attending college and playing softball and the support from my family has motivated me to push myself past the limits I set for myself. My best friends, Alyssa Gerber and Ashley Pentz have picked me up when I thought I'd never stand up again. I have many thanks to give to so many people, but the people who have stood behind me unconditionally are who I owe my success to.
