Baseball Rallies to Defeat Penn State Greater Allegheny

Penn State Schuylkill Baseball rallied to defeat PSUAC opponent Penn State Greater Allegheny at the Ripken Experience – Myrtle Beach, SC.

After two outs at the top of the first inning, Greater Allegheny homered in a run to take a 1-0 lead early in the contest. With Greater Allegheny leading 2-0 at the top of the third inning with bases loaded, a double to right field led to 3 runs to extend Greater Allegheny's lead to 5-0.

A Chase Herb (Hegins, PA / Tri-Valley) single at the bottom of the 3rd inning set up what would be two runs for Schuykill following a Jake Leininger (Pine Grove, PA / Pine Grove) home run.

Another Leininger home run at the bottom of the 5th inning led to two more runs for Schuylkill to bring their deficit to 6-4.

Schuylkill completed their comeback in the 7th inning, starting with a Leininger single to left center. A double by Owen Zimmerman (Hamburg, PA / Hamburg) moved Leininger to third base.

With Schuylkill in position to score, Owen Shoop (Tower City, PA / Williams Valley) singled to left field, leading to a Leininger run. A single by Ethan Naftzinger (Hamburg, PA / Hamburg) led to another Schuylkill score and tied the game at 6-6.

With bases loaded, Patrick Ryan (Pottsville, PA / Pottsville) walked to first base, advancing everyone on base and giving Schuylkill a 7-6 victory in 7 innings.

Leininger tallied 3 hits and 4 RBI's. Zimmerman finished with 2 hits. Austin Miller (Hamburg, PA / Hamburg) and Dayne Yourkavitch (Wyomissing, PA / Wyomissing) split time on the mound for Schuylkill.

Schuylkill will take on Henry Ford College in a double header matchup (9:00 a.m. & 12:00 p.m.) on Tuesday, March 7th at the Ripken Experience – Myrtle Beach, SC.
