Baseball Falls to Penn State York in PSUAC Tournament

ASTON, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill Baseball fell to Penn State York in the first round of the PSUAC Tournament on Thursday.

Consecutive singles by Ryan Jarboe (Schuylkill Haven, PA / Blue Mountain), Chase Herb (Hegins, PA / Tri-Valley), and Ethan Naftzinger (Hamburg, PA / Hamburg) loaded the bases for Schuylkill at the top of the 3rd inning. A single through the left side by Owen Zimmerman (Hamburg, PA / Hamburg) on the very next play drove in Schuylkill's first two runs of the contest. A single to right center by Owen Kosar (Shenandoah, PA / Shenandoah Valley) drove in two additional runs for Schuylkill, giving them a 4-0 advantage.

York began to cover ground at the bottom of the third as a single through the left side drove in their first run of the contest. A single to shortstop plays later gave them their second run of the contest, bringing their deficit to 4-2.

Three hits and two Schuylkill errors at the bottom of the fourth ultimately led to three runs for York. A York single with third base occupied at the bottom of the sixth gave them their sixth run of the contest. York went on to close Schuylkill out in seven.

Naftzinger tallied two hits for Schuylkill while Kosar finished with two RBIs in the loss.
