Baseball Dominates Christendom, Naftzinger Notches 100 Hits

FRONT ROYAL, Pa.Ethan Naftzinger (Hamburg, PA / Hamburg Area High School) recorded his 100th career hit as Penn State Schuylkill swept USCAA opponent Christendom College.

Following two early runs in the contest. Schuylkill would score a total of seven runs during the third inning to take an early 9-0 lead. Christendom managed to narrow their deficit to 10-4 before Schuylkill erupted in the fifth inning, securing a total of nine runs to take a commanding 18-4 lead.

Naftzinger and Brennan Adams (Pottsville, PA / Pottsville Area High School) both achieved a 3-4 batting record, with Naftzinger tallying four RBIs to Adams' three. Owen Zimmerman (Shoemakersville, PA / Hamburg Area High School) had a perfect 2-2 performance, securing two doubles. Additionally, Naftzinger also hit two doubles, while Adams contributed with a double in the first matchup.

Schuylkill's momentum carried over to the following matchup as they tallied nine runs in the opening inning. Christendom responded in the bottom of the second with a run before Schuylkill achieved a total of six runs in the top of the third, ultimately putting the game out of distance.

Owen Shoop (Tower City, PA / Williams Valley High School) hit a triple and a double while recorded a team-high five RBIs. Adams added three RBIs while Jared Sterner (Hamburg, PA / Hamburg Area High School) recorded two. Also hitting doubles for Schuylkill were Zimmerman, Adams, Sterner, and Pedro Rosario (Reading, PA / Wyomissing Area High School).

Schuylkill (19-10 overall, 7-4 PSUAC) will travel to Central Penn for their next matchup on Thursday.
