Antwuan Byrd (Harrisburg, PA / Bishop McDevitt High School) found Bryce Hensley (Auburn, PA / Blue Mountain High School) for a layup to get things started for Schuylkill in Wednesday nights contest against Penn State Lehigh Valley. Another Hensley basket with 12:45 remaining capped off a 14-5 stretch by Schuylkill and extended their lead to 20-12, forcing a Lehigh Valley timeout.
Lehigh Valley went on a 6-2 stretch out of a timeout to bring their deficit to 22-18. Schuylkill immediately answered with a 13-5 runt to push their lead to 35-23 with 5:42 remaining in the first half. Schuylkill entered the second half up 43-33.
An 11-6 stretch by Lehigh Valley brought their deficit to 49-44, forcing a Schuylkill timeout with 16:23 remaining. Schuylkill answered once again, going on a 6-0 run to stretch their lead to 56-44 with 14:09 remaining.
A Lehigh Valley steal and slam brought their deficit to 69-63 with 6:27 remaining. Lehigh proceeded to score possessions later to bring the score to 69-65. Schuylkill went on another run and extended their lead past ten after two made free throws by Dashawn Dixon (Baltimore, MD / Cantonsville High School). Schuylkill sustained their lead for the remainder of the contest and defeated Lehigh Valley 83-75.
Wilvens Fleurizard (Tamarac, FL / Coral Springs High School) lead Schuylkill with 23 points and 4 rebounds. Andrew Sepp (Bogota, NJ / Saint Mary High School) finished with 17 points. Byrd added 13 points and 9 aassists. Dixon contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds.
(Schuylkill 8-11. 8-2 PSUAC) will return home Friday, January 20th against PSUAC opponent Penn State Brandywine. Tip off is set for 8:00 p.m.
