Men's Basketball Falls to Penn State Brandywine

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, PA - Andrew Sepp (Bogota, NJ / Saint Mary High School) started off with the hot hand for Schuylkill, knocking down his fourth three-point field goal of the contest with 13:19 remaining in the first half to give Schuylkill a 17-11 lead.

Brandywine retook the lead off a made three-point field goal with 5:23 remaining in the first half. Two made Schuylkill free throws late in the half would give them a 27-26 advantage heading into the second half.

With the score 50-50 with 3:47 remaining in the second half, Brandywine was fouled on a three-point attempt and converted all three free throws to take a 53-50 lead. A Ryan Worrell (Leesport, PA / Schuylkill Valley High School) three-point field goal on Schuylkill's next possession evened the score at 53.

A 5-0 stretch by Brandywine was halted by a made jump shot by Dashawn Dixon (Baltimore, MD / Cantonsville High School). Dixon converted a free throw seconds later to bring the Schuylkill deficit to 58-56 with 1:47 remaining in regulation. A Brandywine basket with 1:19 remaining stretched their lead to four.

Dixon continued to excel from the charity stripe, going 2 for 2 with 24 seconds remaining to bring the deficit to two. With time not in Schuylkill's favor, Brandywine was able to walk away with a 61-58 lead.  

Sepp led Schuylkill in scoring with 17 point, 5-9 from 3-pt. Dixon finished with a 16 point, 16 rebound double double.

Schuylkill (8-12, 8-3 PSUAC) will return to action on Monday, January 23rd, as they take on Clark Summit University on the road. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
