Wilvens Fleurizard Scores 1000 Career Points as Men's Basketball Tops Penn State Lehigh Valley

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, PA - Junior Guard Wilvens Fleurizard (Tamarac, FL / Coral Springs High School) scored his 1000th career point as Penn State Schuylkill Men's Basketball won a close PSUAC matchup against Penn State Lehigh Valley.

An 11-4 stretch to begin the first half put Lehigh Valley in the driver's seat with 16:40 to go. Andrew Sepp (Bogota, NJ / Saint Mary High School) connected on a 3-point make out of a timeout to bring the Schuylkill deficit to 11-7. A made 3-point shot by Lehigh Valley with 10:54 remaining gave them their biggest lead of the half at 23-14.

With just one point shy of reaching 1000 career points, Fleurizard rebounded a Lehigh Valley miss and went coast to coast, finishing over a Lehigh Valley defender to reach the milestone with 8:56 remaining in the first.

A made 3-point basket by Pau Pumarola (Barcelona, Spain / IMG Academy) capped off a 17-8 stretch by Schuylkill and evened the score at 31 apiece with 3:02 remaining in the first half. Schuylkill outscored Lehigh Valley 6-3 to end the half and entered the second half with a 37-33 advantage.

Schuylkill extended their lead to 46-35 on a made basket by Fleurizard with 16:30 to go in the second half. Lehigh Valley brought their deficit to 65-60 on a made 3-point basket with 5:54 remaining. Lehigh Valley was unable to gain momentum in the final minutes as Schuylkill went on to defeat Lehigh Valley 75-70.

Fleurizard led Schuylkill with 16 points and 11 rebounds, Dashawn Dixon (Baltimore, MD / Cantonsville High School) finished with 14 points and 18 rebounds. Sepp and Pumarola added 11 points each in the win.

Schuylkill (12-14. 11-4 PSUAC) will return to action on Saturday, February 11th as they take on Penn State Scranton. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
