Men's Basketball Drops Contest to Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. – Penn State Schuylkill Men's Basketball fell to NCAA Division III opponent Salisbury University on Saturday.

Consecutive jump shots by Makhi Jones (Harrisburg, PA / Susquehanna Township High School) and Amir Gray (Clarksburg, MD / Quince Orchard High School) leveled the score at 10-10 with 12:09 remaining in the first half. Subsequently, Salisbury extended its lead to double digits after a 15-0 run, interrupted by a successful basket by Antwuan Byrd (Harrisburg, PA / Bishop McDevitt High School) at the 8:39 mark. Salisbury entered the second half with a 45-19 advantage.

After an initial surge by Salisbury at the start of the second half, a successful three-pointer by Jones following the second media timeout, initiated a 26-6 surge by Schuylkill, reducing their deficit to 20 with 4:21 left in the contest. Schuylkill showcased an impressive 48 percent shooting accuracy from the field in the second half.

Gray led Schuylkill in scoring with 16 points off the bench. Also scoring in double-digits off the bench was Jones who added 14. Byrd dished out a game-high 9 assists, while Bryce Hensley (Auburn, PA / Blue Mountain High School) scored 11 points in the loss.

Schuylkill (4-10 overall, 2-4 PSUAC) will return home as they host Fisher College on Monday, January 8th. Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m.
