Softball Falls to Penn State Brandywine in PSUAC Tournament

ASTON, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill fell to Penn State Brandywine on day one of the PSUAC Softball Tournament.

Brandywine was the first team to hop on the board following a home run to center field on their first offensive play of the contest. An error and a walk later in the inning led to two additional runs for Brandywine during the first.

Schuylkill started the second inning off strong following a double and a single by Kaely Walshaw (Dornsife, PA / Line Mountain) and Alyssa Youst (Schuylkill Haven, PA / Blue Mountain), respectively. Morgan Kleckner (Hamburg, PA / Hamburg) went on to walk on the next play, loading the bases for Schuylkill. Schuylkill was unable to capitalize as three outs followed. A single and a double by Brandywine at the bottom of the second drove in two runs and extended their lead to 5-0. Brandywine went on to score once more during the 3rd inning before the game was called off due to weather.

The contest resumed at the top of the 4th inning with Brandywine holding a 6-0 lead. Not much action during the 4th inning as neither team was able to score. Two errors and a single ultimately drove in two runs for Brandywine during the 5th inning. Brandywine closed out Schuylkill in five.
