Softball Falls to Penn State Brandywine in PSUAC Semifinal

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill Softball fell to Penn State Brandywine in the semifinal round of the PSUAC Tournament.

Meghan Stokes (Winchester, VA / John Hadley) got things started for Schuylkill at the top of the first, hitting a double on the first play of the game. Stokes went on to steal third base plays later before Schuylkill received their third out of the inning. A single for Brandywine at the bottom of the first drove in their first run of the contest.

Two Schuylkill errors at the bottom of the 2nd inning ultimately led to two Brandywine runs. Brandywine continued to attack during the 4th inning as two singles and a double drove in three runs for Brandywine, extending their lead to 6-0.

A single and a triple at the bottom of the sixth drove in two additional runs for Brandywine. Brandywine went on to close out Schuylkill in six innings.

Stokes tallied a double in the loss. Kaely Walshaw (Dornsife, PA / Line Mountain) and Cealinn McGroarty (New Boston, PA / Mahanoy) tallied a single each for Schuylkill.
