Crisswell Breaks Strikeout Record During Penn State Brandywine Matchup

ASTON, Pa.Emma Crisswell (Williamstown, PA / Williams Valley High School) broke Penn State Schuylkill's single season strikeout record in their doubleheader loss to Penn State Brandywine.  

Brandywine scored a total of eight runs in the first inning. Following a scoreless second inning between both teams, six hits for Brandywine in the bottom of the third ultimately led to six runs. Alyssa Youst (Schuylkill Haven, PA / Blue Mountain High School) and Isabela Caruso (Gilbertsville, PA / Pope John Paul II High School) recorded hits for Schuylkill in the first matchup.

In the second matchup, Brandywine managed to score runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings with their final run coming off a home run hit. Crisswell went 2-3 at bat with a double for Schuylkill. Crisswell also finished with eight strikeouts on the mound. Crisswell's efforts led to a total of 149 strikeouts for the season, breaking the previous single-season record of 148.

Schuylkill (15-11, 7-7 PSUAC) will return to action a week from today as they travel to Penn State Greater Allegheny on Friday.
