Women's Basketball Falls to Penn State Shenango, 63-54.

SHARON, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill women's basketball team fell on the road this past Friday to PSUAC opponent Penn State Shenango, 63-54. With Schuylkill holding an 18-12 advantage in the last 30 seconds of the first quarter following two made free throws by Serena Jones (New Ringgold, PA / Tamaqua High School), Shenango would capitalize on a 3-point field goal with five seconds remaining in the quarter, closing the gap to three.

With the game going back and forth for the majority of the second quarter, Shenango would regain the lead with 3:18 remaining and would hold on to the lead for the remainder of the contest. Shenango would outscore Schuylkill 18-9 in the second quarter.

With Shenango leading by as much as nine in the final period, Schuylkill would close the gap to 53-48 early in the fourth quarter following a pair of made free throws from Desiree Ellison (Atlanta, GA / Rockdale County High School). Shenango would then go on to extend the lead to 56-48 on a made 3-point field goal midway through the quarter.

With time winding down in the fourth, Schuylkill would continue to fight. Tajae Stevenson (Patterson, NJ / International High School) would score on a made layup with 3:26 remaining in the contest following two consecutive offensive rebounds off of missed attempts. However, Schuylkill could not complete the comeback as Shenango would continue to add on to the lead late in the quarter.

Schuylkill had two players score in double figures for this contest. Stevenson led Schuylkill with 17 points, 14 rebounds, 5 steals, and 3 blocks. Ellison added 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals in the loss.
