Women's Basketball Falls To Washington Adventist

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, PA - Penn State Schuylkill Women's Basketball fell to NAIA opponent Washington Adventist on Wednesday night, 54-43.

Down 6-2 midway through the first quarter, Schuylkill went on a 7-0 run to take a 9-6 lead with 3:35 remaining in the opening period. Adventist quickly responded with a three point make on their next offensive possession to tie the game. The lead changed hands just twice in the final minutes with Schuylkill holding a 15-13 advantage going into the second period.

With both teams scoreless nearly four minutes into the second quarter, Allison Crockett (Liverpool, PA / Greenwood High School) broke the ice by cleaning up a missed shot attempt by Schuylkill. Kassidy Ingram (Abington, PA / Trinity High School) connected on a layup possessions later to give Schuylkill a 19-13 lead with 5:23 to go in the quarter.

An 8-0 run out of a time out gave Adventist a 21-19 lead with 3:57 remaining in the second. A made jump shot by Tajae Stevenson (Patterson, NJ / International High School) seconds later put a halt to the run and tied the game at 21 apiece. There was a total of 3 lead changes and 2 ties in the final two minutes of the quarter.

Schuylkill went on a 5-0 run to open the third period and took a 31-28 lead with 9:19 remaining in the quarter. A 13-0 stretch by Adventist gave them a 41-31 advantage heading into the final period. Both teams traded baskets for the duration of the fourth period as Adventist went on to defeat Schuylkill.

Ingram and Crockett scored 11 points each in the loss. Stevenson added 9 points and 10 rebounds.

Schuylkill (16-8. 11-2 PSUAC) will remain in PSUAC play for the remainder of the season, starting with Saturday's away matchup against Penn State York. Tip-off time is 1 p.m.
