Women's Basketball Blows By Penn State Lehigh Valley

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, PA - Penn State Schuylkill Women's Basketball knocked off PSUAC foe Penn State Lehigh Valley, 68-48.

Schuylkill outscored Lehigh Valley 22 to 12 in the opening period of Wednesday nights matchup. Schuylkill's shot 66 percent from the field while limiting Lehigh Valley to just 23 percent shooting for the quarter. Nadia King (Harrisburg, PA / Susquehanna Township High School) and Kassidy Ingram (Abington, PA / Trinity High School) combined for 18 of Schuylkill's 22 first quarter points.

A 9-4 stretch by Lehigh Valley brought their deficit to 26-23 with 4:21 remaining in the second period. Schuylkill responded with a run of their own, going on a 8-1 stretch to end the half and extending their lead to 34-24.  

A made 3-point field goal by Allison Crocket (Liverpool, PA / Greenwood High School) with 8:16 remaining in the third sparked a 19-7 stretch by Schuylkill. Schuylkill extended their lead to 20 on a made jump shot by Tajae Stevenson (Patterson, NJ / International High School) with 4:17 remaining in the third.

A 9-2 run to begin the fourth brought Lehigh Valley's deficit to 55-40. Serena Jones (New Ringgold, PA / Tamaqua High School) scored on four consecutive offensive possessions late in the fourth as Schuylkill was able to close out Lehigh Valley.

King led Schuylkill with 19 points and 5 assists. Ingram added 15 points and 14 rebounds. Crockett finished with 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Stevenson added 12 points and 9 rebounds.

Schuylkill (18-8. 13-2 PSUAC) will host PSUAC opponent Penn State Scranton on Saturday, February 11th before playing in final away game of the regular season Tuesday against Penn State Brandywine.
