Women's Basketball Knocks Off Penn State Scranton

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, PA - Penn State Schuylkill Women's Basketball dominated Saturday's matchup against PSUAC opponent Penn State Scranton, defeating Penn State Scranton 84-19.  

A made 3-point field goal by Tajae Stevenson (Patterson, NJ / International High School) with 6:13 remaining in the opening quarter capped off a 13-0 Schuylkill run to begin the contest. Kassidy Ingram (Abington, PA / Trinity High School) responded immediately to a made Scranton field goal with a made basket of her own with 5:32 remaining in the first. Schuylkill went on an 11-0 run to end the quarter and entered the second half holding a 24-3 lead.

Schuylkill shut out Scranton 26-0 in the second period, allowing only 7 shot attempts during the quarter.

Schuylkill continued their dominance in the second half, outscoring Scranton 34-16. Schuylkill's defense held Scranton to just 15 percent shooting for the contest. Schuylkill led in every statistical category as they went on to knock off Scranton.

Stevenson and Ingram finished with 17 points apiece. Jasmine Wright (Sicklerville, NJ / Winslow Township High School) and Alahnna Balbach (Gouldsboro, PA / North Pocono High School) tallied 10 points each in the victory.

With the victory, Schuylkill (19-8. 14-2 PSUAC) moves up to first place in the PSUAC East Standings. Schuylkill will take on Penn State Brandywine on the road on Tuesday, February 14th before playing their last two games of the season at home.
