Women’s Basketball Beats Penn State York. Earns #1 seed in PSUAC playoffs.

Penn State Schuylkill Women's Basketball clinched the #1 seed of the PSUAC East Division following their 61-38 victory against Penn State York on Tuesday night.

The scoring matchup in the first quarter was even for both teams at 11-11. Kassidy Ingram (Abington, PA / Trinity High School) scored 8 of Schuylkill's 11 first quarter points while shooting 75 percent from the field in the quarter.

Schuylkill took an 18-17 lead with 8:00 minutes to go in the second quarter on a made jump shot by Nadia King (Harrisburg, PA / Susquehanna Township High School). King's basket was the start of what would be a 14-0 Schuylkill run to end the quarter. The run was highlighted by an array of points from Tajae Stevenson (Patterson, NJ / International High School) who scored 12 of her game high 18 points in the quarter. Schuylkill outscored York 19-6 in the second.

A made jump shot by Serena Jones (New Ringgold, PA / Tamaqua High School) with 6:25 to go in the fourth extended Schuylkill's lead to 53-32. Schuylkill dominated the boards throughout the contest, outrebounding York 56-23.

Stevenson led Schuylkill with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Ingram finished with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Jones added 12 points and 8 rebounds off the bench.

#1 seeded Schuylkill (22-8. 17-2 PSUAC) will host #4 seeded Penn State Brandywine (11-8 PSUAC) in the Quarterfinal round on Sunday, February 26. Schuylkill finished 2-0 against Brandywine in regular season play. Tip off is set for 1:00 p.m.
