Women's Basketball Falls to Miami-Hamilton in USCAA Playoffs

PETERSBURG, Va. - Penn State Schuylkill Women's Basketball fell in the quarterfinal round of the USCAA National Tournament to Miami-Hamilton on Tuesday, 82-59. 

With Miami-Hamilton up 8-4 in the early minutes of the first quarter, Schuylkill went on a 7-2 run to take a 11-10 lead with 5:23 to go in the first. Miami-Hamilton went on to finish the quarter on an 11-0 run to take a 21-11 lead heading into the second quarter. 

Miami-Hamilton's lead was extended to 20 on a made 3-point shot with 7:01 remaining in the second. A pair of made free throws by Serena Jones (New Ringgold, PA / Tamaqua High School) with 5:07 remaining in the quarter started what would be a 9-0 Schuylkill run, bringing their deficit to 38-24 going into final half of play. 

The scoring output for both teams was even during the third. An early Miami-Hamilton run was matched with an 11-0 Schuylkill run midway through the quarter, bringing Schuylkill's deficit to 52-41 with 3:12 remaining. Miami-Hamilton was able to stretch their lead back to 14 by the end of the period. 

Schuylkill brought their deficit to 12 on a made layup by Nadia King (Harrisburg, PA / Susquehanna Township High School) to open the quarter. A 12-4 run by Miami-Hamilton extended their lead back to 20 with 5:53 remaining in regulation. Miami-Hamilton was able to hold on to their lead as they went on to defeat Schuylkill. 

Kassidy Ingram (Abington, PA / Trinity High School) led Schuylkill with 21 points. Allison Crockett (Liverpool, PA / Greenwood High School) and King added 9 points each in the loss.
