Baseball Drops Contest to Westminster

MYRTLE BEACH, Sc. – Penn State Schuylkill Baseball fell on Monday to Westminster College at the Ripken Experience.

A single to center field followed by a home run on the very next play resulted in five runs for Westminster in the first inning. Westminster maintained their aggression as a double and a hit by pitch during the next frame drove in three more runs, giving them an early 8-0 lead heading into the third inning.

Consecutive singles by Kyle Kaminski (Lodi, NJ / Saint Mary High School), Dominic Colon (Wyomissing, PA / Wyomissing Area High School), and Ryan Jarboe (Pottsville, PA / Blue Mountain High School) drove in Schuylkill's first run of the contest in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the bases loaded for Schuylkill in the bottom of the ninth inning, Owen Shoop (Tower City, PA / Williams Valley High School) singled in Schuylkill's second run of the contest.

Kaminski finished with two hits for Schuylkill. Jarboe and Shoop recorded a single and an RBI each while Tristian Baer (Hamburg, PA / Hamburg Area High School) hit a double for Schuylkill.

Schuylkill (3-3 overall, 0-0 PSUAC) will resume action at the Ripken Experience on Wednesday, March 6th as they take on Penn State Shenango at 4:30 p.m.
