Byrd, Dixon Receive PSUAC All-Conference Recognition

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference released their 2023-2024 Men's Basketball All-Conference Team List this past weekend. Juniors Antwuan Byrd and Dashawn Dixon represented Penn State Schuylkill as they were honored on the East Division Second Team for their play during the 2023-2024 season.

Antwuan Byrd (Harrisburg, PA / Bishop McDevitt High School) orchestrated Schuylkill's offense throughout the course of the season, dropping dimes and finishing with an assist total of 168, which led in the entire PSUAC. Byrd also ranked number one in assist/turnover ratio (2.0) and steals per game (2.7). Byrd amassed his season-high of seven steals twice. Byrd's season-high of 10 assists came in a win over Penn State Scranton. Byrd completed the season with a 5.6 assist per game average.

In the scoring department, Byrd finished with 329 total points on the year in 30 games played, giving him an 11.0 a game average. Byrd also finished number five in the PSUAC in free throw percentage, knocking down 80.8 percent of his shots from the charity stripe. Byrd scored his season-high of 25 points in a win against Fisher College.

Making his second consecutive appearance on the PSUAC All-Conference team is Dashawn Dixon (Baltimore, MD / Catonsville High School) who ranked second in the entire PSUAC in total rebounds, finishing with an impressive 265 on the year. Dixon finished third overall in offensive rebounds (97) and fourth overall in defensive rebounds (168). Dixon averaged 8.8 rebounds on the year.

Dixon finished the season with a 10.7 points per game average on a very efficient 56.4 shooting from the field, which ranked fifth in the conference. Dixon scored his season-high of 21 points in a week that saw him average 18.7 points (60.3% FG) and 10 rebounds a game, giving him the nod for PSUAC Player of the Week. Dixon grabbed a season-high of 18 rebounds to go with 20 points against Michigan-Dearborn on November 5th.

Dixon also received the John Fritz Sportsmanship Award which is given to one player from each team in the league who best displays the core values of the league and sportsmanship to teammates and opponents throughout the season.
